As Salaamu ‘Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam

First time ‘Umrah visit and my experience

Words can’t express the feeling and happiness I felt when my eyes first witnessed the Kaaba. It was one of the best moment of my life.

The ‘Umrah was my first time ever visit to the Kaaba. We went through travel agent in a group of 50 members including my family and two small kids (6-month-old and 3-year-old). We went to ‘Umrah for 15 days during the blessed month of Ramadhaan.

Allaah made things easier for us, Alhamdulillaah. Everything was organized by the travel agent, and we had nothing to do except ‘ibadath. They arranged flight tickets, hotel stay, food for sahri and iftaar, and bus to do ziyaarat, bus to go to Prophet’s Masjid ( Madinah). We had an Amir with us in the group, arranged by the travel agent. He guided the group on how to perform ‘Umrah, and what has to be done.

In our group many people were doing ‘Umrah for first time including myself. Hence, it was very useful having an Amir with us guiding every step clearly. I will also recommend you to have a Du’aa book with you, so you can recite Du’aa´s while doing Tawaaf.

We reached Haram Sharif in the morning. The feeling that took me over, standing in front of the House of Allaah is indescribable. It cannot be matched with words. The only word I could say is Alhamdulillaah (All Praise is due to Allaah) who had granted His mercy to this slave to see His house.

Just recalling the very fact that I was standing at the place where our beloved Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him, stood and used to pray gave me chills and goosebumps.

First thing we did was to offer our Fajr salaah, as we reached the Haram during Fajr prayer. After Fajr salaah, I made sure I pray funeral prayer in every salaah right from the first day in Makkah till the 15th day in Madinah from where we returned back. This made me more fearful about death and keeps me reminding that we are not permanent in this world. It made me think about our hereafter and utilize our time in ‘ibadath as much as possible.

The very thought of answering Allaah on the day of judgement and the definite promise of Allaah that “Every Soul Shall taste Death” gave me more of a reason to maximize ‘Ibaadath as much as possible during those 15 days in Baitullaah and Masjid An Nabawi. Allaah Subhaanahu wa ta’la only knows, when I will get the next opportunity to visit this place again.

As it was the blessed month of Ramadhaan, I also had the opportunity to perform Salaat-ut-Taraaweeh. Those days and nights were the most beautiful and memorable ones. In Haram you will see people praying and doing Tawaaf, day and night. Nights never look like night, as you see more people doing Tawaaf, some doing Nawaafil prayer and some reciting Qur’an. We reached Madinah on 11th day of our ‘Umrah visit. It was the beginning of last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadhaan i.e., it was 21st fasting and night. So I had the opportunity to pray ‘ishaa prayer in Masjid-an-Nabawi. It was same as in Makkah where people were praying whole night. This gave us more energy to keep going and praying. In Madinah, people also like to do shopping for relatives and friends like dates and musallaah, as a gift of love from their ‘Umrah. My family also did shopping there. I also went to see the graveyard in Baqi’ but from outside of-course, as ladies can’t go in there.

The saddest part of the trip was retuning back. It was very hard to return, as these are world´s most beautiful places, and place where our Hearts and Minds are at peace with ‘Ibaadaah of Allaah, without any worries of dunya.

I feel that you will forget all your worries and sadness, when you are in Ka’abah and Masjid-an-Nabawi. These are the best places in dunya, and of-course Jannah in the hereafter. Alhamdulillah, Allaah gave me the opportunity to do His ‘Ibadath in Ka’abah and Masjid-an-Nabawi. May Allaah forgive all our sins and make us people of Jannah, Aameen.

Lastly, I would like to tell you all to be happy and enjoy your ‘Ibaadah in Allaah´s House and Prophet´s Mosque, as we don’t knows whether we will have next opportunity to visit or not. May Allaah accept all our rightful Du’aas. Please include me and my family in your Du’aas.
